Regulators

Reagan won the cold war without firing a shot…China might win the next one without firing a shot. If the people subscribe to the current administrations international and national domestic policies, and remain on the outside looking in…we, possibly, might be past the point of no return. Nah, that might be a little strong…we can always get back in the game, but it will take all the resources we have available to us. It will take the people, and it will take a long time. Know that. How much damage can be reversed, and how long will it take? Could be like repairing a wrecked car, with no parts. Bad analogy, whatever…you know what I mean.

I’m so sick and tired of listening to people who say, “we’ve got the most sophisticated military in the world…we can always bomb ‘em and be done with it. We can always print more money.” “Nobody fucks with the United States”. You see, these people are a huge part of the problem. To use their words…”that dog won’t hunt”. They say, “Free Health Care”…”Great, I need more take home pay…I’m all for it.” I bring up the fact that there is more in the Health Care Bill than Health Care, and it is not free. That’s when I get the “stupid” look. I try to explain the “money” to ‘em…they have no clue. They don’t understand, and they don’t care…they’re only concerned about next week. It is amazing to me.

Prior to the American Revolution, many people experienced strong feelings of discontent with the way the provincial government conducted the affairs of the people. These people were also known as “Regulators”. The Regulators were not so much concerned with the form of government, or laws…but with with the abuses by government officials…affecting the daily lives of the people, excessive taxes, illegal fees for just about everything, and dishonest politicians.

These Regulators rose up…they were discouraged because a peaceful solution didn’t happen. Negotiations didn’t work. They tried to solve their issues in a peaceful manner. It didn’t work.

It then became violent….the beginning of a militia.

I can see some parallels. Some people are pissed, and they will only take so much. Some people believe you need to look to the past to make decisions for the future. I don’t know about that, but I do know we live in troubled times, and this mob we have running our country is some Bad Bad Juju.
