That is a tough one. Both have made my personal and professional life both easier and more complicated. I had a cellphone going back to when they were regular-phone sized and came in a bag — that is way back.
My company had a crude version of the internet and instant messaging way back in the late 1980’s.
If your question relates only to broadband, not the internet in general, I would go with cell phones. If you are talking the interwebz, I have to go with that, even back in dial-up mode.
Broadband absolutely. Cell phones are nice, but I don’t hear well enough to enjoy them as much as I should.
I can’t be as longwinded and snarky as I need to be on a cell either.
Cell phones. I no longer need an office nor receptionist. I can now do business wherever I might happen to be.
Then again, the whole porn thing with the broadband…
Whut LeeAnn said. I could live without a phone. I think the majority of cell calls are unnecessary “I’m in the market, do you want chunky or creamy?” calls. At least, from what I observe, daily. How on earth did all these people SURVIVE before everyone had a cell? And I don’t mean that as some slam at technology and gadgets because I love them. But this cell thing is pretty obnoxious.
“I think the majority of cell calls are unnecessary”
Yours maybe, but 98% of mine are pure money.
Broadband, for shitsure.
Broadband. It has allowed me to get my crazy to a wider audience because when I used to just call people with my crazy shit, they’d just hang up on me and then block me. Yeah, randomly calling strangers didn’t work out too well for me.
Cell phones. Broadband. I don’t have to choose, but if I did, I keep the phone.
Broadband, definitely. With a cell phone, that might go viral or something. (Heh.)
Hmmm… well it depends. When my kids were at home and my son was a teen – I’d have to say cell phones because I knew he could always be reached (no I didn’t have issues with my kids turning off their phones – other things yes, phones were good). My daughter didn’t have a cell when she was a teen (too too too expensive) so I had a great gauge as to the difference between the 2 and how much easier it made my life.
OTOH – for everything else in life – broadband. I mean – just think – without broadband none of us would ever have met!
