302 Small Block Z-28

I had a 68-69 model of one of these (Camaro). Damn thing was like driving a rocket. I’m talking you could not lean forward when you floored it. G’s…you were pinned back in the seat. Anyway, mine wasn’t this color, but it had the stripes, and it was some BAD BAD JUJU. That was cool back then…hell, it’s cool now. I’d give almost anything to still have it. Great engine.

*Update*

Just thinking:

I’ve been fortunate to have driven many nice cars. Not on a track.

Ferrari 328 gtsi. Sweet ride, but loud as hell. Has a clutch like a fucking dump truck. No need to turn the stereo on…no way you can hear it. Sweet ride, I’d take one in a pinch, but if you wreck it, you’re dead. Handles like Gumby.

Lotus Turbo Esprit. Probably the nicest foreign ride I’ve ever driven. I’m talking slot car. I understand that it is, or was, the fastest production 4 cylinder ever made. Anyway, it’s like driving glue. You can ask the cops about that. Damn thing will outrun a radio. That’s another story.

Corvettes…nice, but a dime a dozen.

High-End Mercedes…nice…I love German cars.

Audi – same as above

BMW – same as above

Porsche 911 / 930 turbo. Love ‘em…want one. My experiences have been that they have a tendency to over-steer, which will get your ass killed really really fast. I’ll take one though. I like how they growl. They just feel good.

Jaguars…piece of shit British engineering. I would rather have a better motor than better leather, but, like I said…the Turbo Esprit was the Catdaddy. Fit me like a glove.

And many more….

But, I would take that 302 small block Z-28 over all of ‘em…maybe.

Check this out.

I had the opportunity to drive a Dodge Viper, and it was one car that you HAD to pay attention too all the time you were driving it. Otherwise, it would bite you in the ass, HARD!!

    Ahh the 302.
Short stroke, big bore, developing around 400 HP with proper aspiration.
Totaled my moms six weeks after I got my license… 40 years later and she’s still pissed.

You know I love the Camaros. All that and 33 mpg at an average speed of 85-90.
