Reality Vs. A Dream

I’m sick and tired of the current administration and the followers of a “green” economy fueled by wind, solar power, and renewable fuel. There is a huge disconnect between the Greenies and the reality of America’s energy needs. I have no problem with wind power, solar power, water power, recycled french fry fat power, nuclear power, and any other power which will save the planet. The fact is, fossil fuels…oil, natural gas, and coal…have enabled the United States to become industrialized and to create unprecedented prosperity. The fact is, no one, or no country, has developed an an alternative to fossil fuels capable of providing the same amount of energy at the same cost. WTF are the Greenies thinking, or smoking? Everybody has to bitch and complain about something, but they’re jumping the gun. We do not have the technology, yet. I say “get over it, and make do with the energy sources we currently have”…and that includes more nuclear plants, more oil refineries, more drilling for oil everywhere it is found, mine all the coal we need, use windmills, etc…, where we can, but for goodness sake…use what we know how to use. We need it (the energy) now, not later. We’ve many more problems than energy. Fact. I understand, from a friend who is in the know, that the start to finish time for a new oil refinery is about three years, triple time (24/7). We need more oil refineries…oil does us no good if we can’t refine it into something we can use.

Shifting from one energy source to another, in this economy, even if we knew how to do it, would be cost and time prohibitive. I believe that switching energy sources for the sake of a cleaner environment is stupid…and it’s not going to happen. The Greenies need to understand this. Number one, we don’t know how to do it…number two, even if we did, we don’t have the money, number three, the current and planned future energy sources are not interchangeable, number four…and on and on and on. You can’t just turn out the lights one night, and wake up the next morning to a brave green new world. This is not like daylight savings time.

For example, wind and solar power cannot be used for transportation, which is fairly crucial to our lives. Currently , nuclear power is only used to generate electricity and power ships which protect us from the crazies.

I did some research: 95% of the energy we use (in the U.S.) for transportation comes from petroleum, 2 % comes from natural gas (not just transportation), and 3 % comes from renewable energy (hydroelectric). You can debate these numbers all you want, and I could break ‘em down further, but you get my point. We can’t just change our energy supply because a bunch of Greenies have a mission. The fact is, the United States will still get 80-85% of it’s energy from fossil fuels twenty-five years from now (2035).

In the current global situation, this is becoming a problem. If 85% of our energy depends on petroleum…most of it imported…and we don’t drill for oil on our soil, and we don’t build more oil refineries…we will be held hostage…what happens then?

0Bama and his administration have issued a moratorium on off shore oil drilling (technology we do have)…they’ve given more than two billion dollars (money we don’t have) in stimulus funds for solar energy companies (technology we don’t have)…and we’re paying for it, as are your children, and their children.

We are out of control. Americans need to see the big picture. The “Green Dream” is just that, a dream…and people who don’t believe that are the essence of the problem.

People, you need to wake up and smell the bacon…on second thought, maybe you can use the bacon fat to drive you to work, if you have a job.

But we also gave 200 million in loans to Brazil to drill for oil in the deep water off their coast. I am sure it is a mere coincidence the Brazilian oil company is owned by George Soros…

I know my friend, we’re in deeper shit than most people realize, and it’s going to get worse. People are more concerned about American Idol and banning pets in San Francisco than their future.

Notice how the media doesn’t really cover the Soros connection to Brazilian oil drilling. Our government has become one big cover-up. I’m pissed off beyond all recognition.

We might all end up living in the woods.

I have no doubt that America realizes that green technologies aren’t “shovel-ready” and needs to switch focus back to oil supplies, China will be delighted to cut back its own consumption in order to share the global supply with us.

Kinda off-topic but….does anyone know of any good deals on bridges? I saw on television that it’s a buyer’s market.
