Shotgun…Don’t Leave Home Without It.

I’ve seen some large snakes in the wild, in my life, but nothing like this. This guy was out looking for hogs in Georgia with his shotgun…damn good thing he had it with him. Heard a rattle and his first instinct was to point and shoot. He is about 6’2”. Look at the head on that thing!!! Eastern Diamondback.

I’m telling you, that snake is approaching small dinosaur dimensions. I don’t think his “snake boots” would have helped…good thing he had a shotgun. That is a huge ass Rattlesnake.

It is a trick of the camera. The snake is big, but the picture angle and perspective make it appear overlarge.

You might be right, you might not be…no matter…the point is, I’d rather have a shotgun that not. Given the angle, it looks like bad bad juju.. in any form. So you think it’s a fake? Okay by me, but I’d shoot it anyway. Kind of like Pelosi’s ass…does it look bigger than it is? A picture is a picture. I’ve seen a 15 foot Black Racer in the wild before. Huge…and my eyes did not photo-shop int0 my brain. Snakes get that large. Whatever, what would you do if you came across one half its size? Bail it out?

I’d have to take that one to the taxidermist.

Me to…that is a huge ass Rattler. I’ve seen some in Texas, Arizona, New Mexico, Utah,,,etc…the west. Also in the East…no matter where, that is a big snake. I’m all about a shotgun.

Got me beat by a bit. Biggest I’ve encountered was 73 inches. Eastern Timber Rattler. Perry Co. TN hard on the Tennessee river on a ridge top appropriately enough known as Rattlesnake Bluff.

A 73 inch Rattler (or any flavor) is a BIG snake…that one had to be a fluke. I’ve come upon rattlers before…two choices, run and prey, or shoot…fast.

I’ve eaten Rattle Snake before…I would never do it again unless I was absolutely starving, but you’re right…that would feed a bunch of people.
