The House of Juju wishes everyone a Happy New Year.
It is Amateur Night, so y’all be careful out there.
I heard that Florida and Texas are setting up “no refusal” DUI checkpoints, which means you cannot refuse a breathalyzer, because they have a judge on site who will immediately sign and issue a warrant that allows police to perform a mandatory blood test. Not sure how I feel about that.
I’m defiantly against driving while drunk, but a couple of beers can put you over the legal limit, and most people can still function after a couple of beers. Who knows?
It reminds me of a short story:
The Juju Woman and I were in a cold town one New Years Eve. It was 15 degrees. We were downtown (third floor) in an old open interior building with a fire escape at a “New Years Eve Party” and everyone (1000+ people) were slamming ‘em down. The cops showed up, and we had to break for cover…no way to go down the stairs…it was mayhem…we had to go through 3rd floor window out onto the roof, and climb down the fire escape. We did escape, but it was fucking cold, and we had a three mile walk to where we were staying. Did I say it was cold, real damn cold? We weren’t knee walking, but I’m certain we were over the limit…if you know what I mean. After we got out, there were hundreds of people looking for cabs. Problem was, there weren’t enough cabs to go around.
We were talking to a couple of young cutie pies who were in the same situation…had further to go…and no way to get there. The police had roadblocks everywhere. This is thinking on your feet…Cutie Pie One says to Cutie Pie Two…”I’m gonna listen to what my dad once told me”, we’re gonna call a wrecker. They did…wrecker shows up, hooks up their car, they jump in the cab, and the wrecker driver took both of ‘em home…and their car. Pretty smart if you ask me…they got home safely, and didn’t have to retrieve their vehicle the following day. Beats the hell out of a DUI.
The Juju Woman and I walked the distance…it was a freezing walk, but all said and done…it was okay. We had hats and gloves and a gun.
So, I hope everyone has a blast tonight, but be careful…Think!

You and the Juju Lady ran when the cops showed up? Hmmm…
Happy New Year, dude!

I know how I feel about it.
While I would never condone drunk driving (despite having been chargeable a time or two) the idea that anybody, anybody has a right to pull you over and demand something of your person flies in the face of the Constitution.
Fuck MADD and SADD. A statement from some spokesperson at MADD said that it was worth it if it saved just one life. I call bullshit. When one life becomes worth the suspension of the rights of the citizens of the United States we have become lost.
Kiss my ass MADD, kiss my ass Florida and Texas State Troopers and kiss my ass any one who supports this invasion of my rights.
Between the TSA and the ‘no refusal’ policy, Americans are becoming prisoners of our own fear and political correctness.
We fought the Drug War…and the loser was the American people. Once we gave up our 4th Amendment rights, this sort of shit is guaranteed to happen sooner or later.
The ‘Drug War’ was a losing proposition for everyone not involved in the illegal drug trade and still is.
Further, the Patriot Act was a farcical rights grab and is being ramped up exponentially by the current administration.
Until the citizens of this country grow a pair and quit living in fear of anything and everything that is presented to them as a threat, we will continue down this road to perdition at an ever increasing speed.
I disagree. The Drug War has done a wonderful job of creating jobs (government ones) at the completely acceptable expense of those pesky American citizens and their alleged rights.
