Reality

I have many friends who make a living from playing with other peoples money. I have no problem with that. They’re honest, but they’re really really worried, now. They are stock brokers, commodities brokers, investment bankers….etc. Some of ‘em believe we are on the verge of a total systemic financial collapse. I’ve known these people forever, and they all come to the same conclusion. I do trust their opinions…we’ve been sharing meals and drink for years. By the by, fact is, on a side note, if the Euro tanks, we’re in deeper trouble (the U.S. cannot afford to bail ‘em out) . They believe this financial mess will affect 401ks, IRAs, equities, and will eventually spank pension plans. I hope they’re wrong, but I don’t think so.

The United States of America is broke, Fact!. Who do you blame? It really doesn’t matter…we’re broke all the same. Blame gets you nowhere. Never has, never will.

I know many people who make a living in the commercial and residential real estate markets. They’re done, and know it. They just don’t see it (the markets) coming back anytime soon. A small bump here and there, but nothing lasting. They’re all looking at a plan B. They are trying to maintain a standard of living they are accustomed to. I guess when you outsource the economy, you’ve got to pay to play.

The government will not save their asses, and you can(not) take that to the bank. The government cares nothing about you. It only cares about itself. It will throw you off the truck and under the bus if it feels it in the best interest of the collective. Socialism is not a good thing. Everyone I know is affected in some way or another by decisions being made in Washington. Many Americans just let “it” fly overhead. They’re not concerned. They believe the government will “pay their mortgage and buy their gas”.

I don’t really have any faith in our government to pull us out of this dive. I don’t really have any faith in our elected politicians…both sides. I hope there will be some change, but I’m not holding my breath. They drove us into a one lane tunnel in a car with no reverse, and a train speeding at us in the opposite direction. In the end, we are all responsible, we elected ‘em, and there will eventually be a collision (sooner than later). How many who survive that “head on” will depend on how many have a plan B.

I’m not trying to be negative, just looking at the situation with clear eyes…brings a new meaning to “one for all and all for one”.

But what the heck is plan B?

I see the train coming in a big bad way in my own family. My parents, who are now in their 70’s, used to be wealthy. It seemed they were covered for their years and beyond. Now, due to all this mess, their investments have dried up and they are nearly broke. It looks like they will outlive their money.

And my husband an I are just barely hanging on, ourselves…so there is no way we can take care of my parents. My sister’s in the same boat too.

So we are all wringing our hands, trying to figure out a plan B. But what is it? It’s a sad and dire situation. Between us, we own a few houses, and that was going to be our plan, but what good is that now?

I don’t think there is a plan B. You can’t count on anything anymore.

There are many people in that same boat, and you’re right, “You can’t count on anything anymore. The times are a changin’.

The only thing you can count on……and ever have been…….is yourself and family if they’re of like minds. Otherwise…….only you and whats between your ears. Better be looking at everyone and everything and saying, “if push comes to shove, can I kill them, or it, and how”. Secondly…….how am I gonna cook them afterwards.

Jest Damn……that even sounds weird to me. Some of the meds haven’t kicked in fully yet.

I am a planner. I’ve been treating some of my friends to free lunches and baking cakes for them, taking them donuts…fattening ‘em up.

Like minded people tend to flock together. Yes they do.

Once we move my father into our house next month, the occupants will include him, my Mother-in-Law, my three small chilluns’, my husband, and myself (close quarters). We have planted a garden, plan on raising poultry and maybe a cow or goats, am stocking up on ammo, and are learning water purification techniques. “Ugly” is just around the corner, and those that have not acquire a taste for beans and rice had better start.

You’re right, it’s going to get worse before it gets better. The question is, how bad will it get? Growing and raising your own stuff is a good move, so is stocking up on ammunition. Good of you to take your family in.

I plant a garden every spring, and put enough up to last until the next. I also do a fall / winter garden.

Fortunately for me and the Juju Woman, we LOVE beans and rice.

Government doesn’t care, banks don’t care. I’m on a cash basis until further notice after losing damn near everything from 2008 on. I never thought it would turn out this way but one thing’s for sure:

    THEY CAN’T KILL YOU.
