Pretty cool Nose Art, eh? This B-24 Liberator which served in in the Pacific during WWII came to Knoxville, TN when I was shacked up with the Juju Woman there. I was able to board and take a look see. Very interesting. I was also offered a ride, but it was kinda pricey. I regret not taking that flight, after all, I did have the cash. Hindsight is 20/20, some say.
Obviously, The nose art was added when it was restored, but that’s OK. It wasn’t flying around bombing the Japs looking like an over made up tart, not that there is anything wrong with that. I understand, it was abandoned in India after the war, and the Indians used it for reconnaissance for many years…then we took her back, and flew her home for a makeover. She was rode hard.
Very clever, “The Dragon And His Tail” . I’ve always loved me some nose art.
I regret not taking that ride, but if I ever see her again…I’m on.

Absolutely would love to take a ride in that. What a blast it would be.
Got to sit in back seat of Apache at our reunion in Oct. Compared to the Cobra’s I flew these things are moon capsules. Twin LED screen, heads up display, night vision and a back up for the back up’s with instruments I remember.
The men and women flying these birds now are just awesome.
Keep them in your prayers this Christmas season.
Me too, and I will.
