The Surprise Slide

Recently, in my small town, we’ve had several home break-ins, home invasions, whatever you want to call ‘em. People are desperate. The bad guys and girls are kicking down doors, breaking and climbing in windows, while people are at home! Most, in broad fucking daylight. They don’t care. The don’t knock, they just crash in. This is happening in nice neighborhoods…the dirt-bags believe they’ll get more for the risk. Their Modus Operandi is to taser everyone inside, steal all their stuff, and make a clean getaway. Well, I guess the odds are better you could survive being tasered, as opposed to being shot, but still. What is this world coming to? I need to get in the habit of locking my doors and my cars, not that that would make a difference. Alarms and security companies don’t work…neither do signs. These people don’t care, they’re in and out way before the police arrive. If you depend on the police to protect you, you’re not very smart. Hell if I know, but I do know it is unlikely anyone could escape after a blast of 3 in. double ought buck. If that shit will go through doors and walls, it will go through you. I will blast anyone who breaks into my house. Of course, Stretch will give me enough warning to rack the surprise slide.

I know many anti-gun people, and I just don’t get it. I’ve said this before, and I’ll say it again…“better to have one and not need it, than to need one and not have it”. You never know what will happen, but when it happens, it happens fast. Just remember, you will not have enough time to unlock a gun safe and load a weapon. You’ll be dead by then. Just something to keep in mind.

Why are some people so anti-gun? I would really like to know. It makes no common sense to me. It’s like drinking water out of your cupped hands, when there is a glass at your elbow.

Yup, come Africa where you have peace when you pay for it.
Chaos is a way of life not a theory.
I pay enough minnions to ensure that I will have the right response at the right time.
Oh, by that, I mean a lot of fire power, in my hands, even when that is so called unlawfull.
I am hitting 200,000 visits in the next 20 hours or so.
If you’re no is no 200,000 I will spend a whole post slagging you and why you should not be the next president. Now that is worth more than 200,000 of Sierra Leone, leones.
So as they say in Chicago and Freetown, visit soon and visit again and again.

I’ll be by, but you can slag me anyway…I can take it.

I used to be afraid of guns. I was afraid that I’d hurt myself or someone else. I no longer have that fear but still don’t own a gun. That’s mostly because I don’t know a reputable dealer here in my city. Now that Wisconsin finally passed concealed carry, I’m thinking of getting my permit and buying a gun. I just need to figure out where to buy one and what kind to get.

I don’t understand the anti-gun people either. I’d rather be safe than sorry (especially now that I’m not afraid of owning, holding or shooting a gun – once I get trained properly that is).

Good for you, guns are a good thing.

It is difficult in NJ to get a gun – legally that is. My ex, who is a cop, always advocated home defense as the cops could not get to you in time. And tasering – shit, with my heart, I would be one dead cookie. Maybe I need to start the process regardless of how difficult it is – the shootings in our neighborhood/little town are at 9 for the year and it is only the 25th. That doesn’t count breakins, robberies, cuttings, etc. Cocaine use is pretty high in the area. Sheeeit – what is this world comin to?

I would start, and see. Can’t hurt.

Part of me says “Yes, be safe.” The other part says, “Shit! Do I really need ANOTHER armed parent?” : )

        • Posted January 27, 2012 at 11:28 am | Permalink

Depends on how you define “safe”. The ball is in your court. You have a choice. It really has nothing to do with armed parents, at all. It has everything to do with “living and protecting”.

Hey, armed parents are fast becoming the norm.

          Just sayin’.

Heck, most everybody around north Florida has at least a .38 snubbie.

Everyone everywhere should have at least a .38 snubbie, and a shotgun.

The cupped-hands simile truly proves (once again) that you, sir, are a genius!

    • Posted January 27, 2012 at 6:11 am | Permalink

Well I don’t know about “genius”, but I am fond of analogies. It was all I could think of while typing. I make this shit up as I go.

I, too, love the cupped hands picture. Here in TX it is almost the law that you have to own a gun! We have a hand gun, a shot gun and 2 or 3 rifles and yes I know how to use them. I can’t imagine ever sleeping again without the comfort of knowing I can protect us if needed.

Thank you Ma’am. I have many friends who live in Texas, and I always feel safe when I’m there.

    To Liz.

First, welcome to the fellowship of arms. All in all, you’ll never find a better or more supportive group to hang with.

Next, I’m going to urge you to go to a website written by Kathy Jackson. She wrote it for women such as yourself, but I have ALL of my students read it, regarless of gender. You should read EACH AND EVERY link and word in it, but I wish to commend two such directly to your attention:

    The Four Rules: http://corneredcat.com/The_Four_Rules/

Marko Kloos, Why The Gun is Civilization: http://corneredcat.com/Why_the_Gun_is_Civilization/

And finally, ma’am….. this AWESOME piece, by a woman who speaks with profound elequoence to the idea of the gun community being HER community. Read this, and savor the deep, rich flavor of truth: http://agirlandhergun.blogspot.com/2012/01/open-letter-to-anti-gun-folks.html

Welcome abooard. Any of us would be proud to share a firing line with you.

I personally do not believe everyone should own a gun. I know some real dumbasses who would refuse any training (or fail it) and would have horrible judgement on when to use one. I know I wouldn’t want to be anywhere near if they pulled it.

I sleep with guns and kabars placed strategically around the house- a lot in the bedroom. When I was just a teenager, I had a friend who woke up once with a strange man standing over her and I never forgot her story. And you remember Amy’s story.

    • Posted January 27, 2012 at 7:12 am | Permalink

Miss Laura, I agree with you 100%. I use to believe that everyone should have, at least, a shotgun. Not so much now. I spent a year on the Grand Jury…eye opener for sure. You are absolutely correct…some people don’t have the mental fortitude to own a weapon.

How is Amy doing? I do think about Max and her from time to time. I’m still pissed. My offer stands…I will ease on down your way and do that motherfucker in a heartbeat.

Having said that, if my car ever broke down near you, and I needed a place to sleep overnight…I’m staying in your backyard…no way I’m going anyway near your bedroom. Me and Stretch have done a little outside work before. Actually, spending the night with Stretch under the stars, or in a tent when it’s raining like hell…is not a bad thing.

Amy is doing good. She moved which helped and, of course, she still cries thinking about Max. That little dog saved her life I am certain. She also now owns a few guns and has a CWP.

        • Posted January 27, 2012 at 12:25 pm | Permalink

Amy has a good friend, and that is really all that really matters. Keep her in the loop, is all I can say.

Give that damn Jack a scratch for me. I’ m about to evict Stretch’s ass. He is a wild Mofo. I’m serious, he doesn’t know his place or his size…he’s as wild as wild can be. He will take on anything…crazy he is. He has no fear., he just goes for it. I’m serious, he is relentless, and he will not run from anything. It might be the death of him. That little fucker is scared of nothing.

Anyway, if your friend Amy would like to get another Max, I have some friends who have some brand new puppies (just born a week ago) if she is interested. Nothing in it for me, just trying to be helpful. I would take ‘em all if I could.
