Mess Kit

As you might know, I’ve been going through the attic, looking in boxes and crates. Found this.

This is the Juju Woman’s Girl Scout Mess Kit. It was/is well used, to say the least. She’s been cooking for a long time, and she is not “that” old (mid 40’s). Experienced, I would say.

Threw a F-4 Phantom in for good measure.

Had the same one and used it for years from Brownies through Seniors. Nothing like burning the snot out of your hand on that metal skillet handle — ahhhh, good times, and s’mores.

You are in the club….trust me, that’s saying a lot.

Looks almost the exact same as my Boy Scout one… and I have that here in a box somewhere….

Yeap, looks lile my Cub/Boy Scout one too. They had to come out of the same mold. Gotta be the same.

Yabu, now don’t be photoshopping some picture of that F-4 chasing that mess kit as if it’s a UFO.

Now, that is clever. Made me smile.

Mine sleeps with the fishes. Somewhere in the bottom of Lake Livingston. You’re welcome to dredge it up, but even after 30 years of soaking, I’m afraid the burnt eggs in the pan still won’t scrub out…

Damn, unfortunately, I have some stuff that sleeps with the fishes. Flipped a canoe on the Buffalo River in Tennessee once, we lost two Winchester 30-30s and all the beer.

That mess kit will most likely outperform the “top of the line” kitchen cookery crap coming out of China. They don’t make stuff like they used to these days. Haven’t so in years.

You are so right. Hell, they’re making Buck knives in China now. Pisses me off to no end.

I hear you, brother. I cannot stand walking in Walmart anymore. What was once supposed to be a “Made In USA” store is now nothing more than ChinaMart. Those Chinese have us by the balls. And they know it. So do our elected officials. They know it, too.

My son is using mine now, and chances are that it will get passed on to his kids :)

Good for him. I lost mine is a house fire many years ago.

I had one of those! I wasn’t in the Girl Scots or anything. I may have won it in a poker game with one as a child though.

I had one as an 11 year old boy scout. First meal was…fried baloney!
It got stole from me and I gave up on cooking. LOL
