I don’t really want to piss anyone off, but with regards to Afghanistan, Iraq, and Iran the reality is. We can’t win, not that there was anything to win in the first place. Afghanistan is one if the most inhospitable places on the planet. People have been trying to conquer Afghanistan since the beginning of time, and no one can. The Afghan people will never give up. We might have given the Taliban a setback, but a setback is all. We took a knife to a gunfight. In the end, they’ll still have money to fight it’s enemies, in the form of poppies. You can bet, we’ll leave the fields intact…only cash crop they have. They are Muslin and HATE the west, anyone who doesn’t believe as they do. Always have, always will. Sometimes I think we should just get the hell out, blow up all of our shit we would leave behind, destroy the poppy fields, and let them live in mud huts. That’s what they want. They are of no threat to anyone except themselves. They have no capacity to do anything except barely survive on a daily basis. Many people say we could’ve won if our government would’ve let us win. I beg to differ. Big difference between overthrowing a government and conquering a nation. You cannot control a people who don’t wan’t to be controlled. We have nothing to gain, time to go.
Iraq is pretty much the same. Can’t win this one either. They are Muslin, and hate the west. Always have and always will. If anyone believes that we can transition Iraq into a democracy, they’re crazy. The Sunnis and the Shiites have been fighting amongst themselves since the beginning of time. Still will. I would take all the oil we can and keep the air bases intact, and get the fuck out.
Iran is the problem.
Fact 1: If we ever went back to Afghanistan we will face a new and improved Taliban on steroids that will be more ruthless and violent than you can imagine.
Fact 2: If we ever go back to Iraq, it will be like starting over from scratch. For what? If they start making weapons of mass destruction, we should find out exactly where they are and destroy them. To hell with congress, we’ll need to move fast. If they want to kill their own people, fine, let ‘em have at it.
Fact 3: Iran will go Nuclear, and they will use it. Think about that for a moment. Do you realize what will happen to the global economy once someone starts detonating Thermonuclear warheads? Israel will have to attack Iran, without or without the support of America. They’ll have no choice. Can Israel win? I’m not sure it’s winnable, but they can definitely set ‘em back. At the very least, they’ll need to refuel over Iraq. That’s a long trip, and loaded jets use a lot of gas. Will Obama allow that? Who knows, he has his own agenda. At any rate, and I’m not a war planner, but I would suspect Israel will be prepared to destroy its neighboring countries air forces while still on the ground. They will sink the Iranian navy. They will secure their borders at whatever the cost. This will be like a “one shot” deal. Israel must win this one. The trick will be total surprise.
The largest problem is that Obama has turned his back on Israel. I know, Americans say we give Israel money. Israel doesn’t need the money, they need ammunition, spare parts, etc. Hell, we also give money to our enemies. We give money to everyone, which is used to kill Americans. America has become the laughing stock of the world.
Regardless of who’s responsible (over the years), our economy is is bad shape, and getting worse. Our politicians are crooks, our education system is broken bad, our values are compromised, crime is growing at an alarming rate. We have people who believe guns are a bad thing. We have people who believe they’re entitled to everything. People are becoming lazy. We have too much government, and it’s getting larger every day. Governments don’t run countries, the people run countries. There is a price for freedom.
Back to the Middle East for a second. It will be imperative to keep the Straits or Hormuz open, and to keep the fucking unions from striking. The price of everything that is transported by land, sea or air will go up. Ever been to a store before a major winter storm or hurricane? The shelves are bare, and will remain bare until they’re re-supplied and the price gouging begins. Also, the looters will be out in force, with their own guns. I somewhat agree with “the preppers”, might not be a bad idea to have a couple of sacks of rice and beans (food), and some water on standby. Medicine if you need it. When people run out of what they need, they will take it at all costs. Remember, calling the police is not an option. You’re on your own.
Lord help you if your cable goes out.
I also believe we secure our Southern, and Northern borders. It could be done, but our politicians won’t let it happen. We should also secure both the East and West coasts as best we can. Many jobs for many people as a side.
I don’t believe The United States should police the world or force our beliefs on anyone. I do believe we should support our best interests and kill anyone who tries to kill us.
What got me thinking about this was a conversation I had with some young college kids I was talking to the other day. It’s unbelievable how clueless they are. They said they weren’t worried about the Middle East, we can always nuke ‘em.
I kid you not, and the sad thing is, they believe it.
Just a little straight typed rant. Maybe I should read stuff before I hit publish. Hell, I’m all over the place.

And now one for the Food Pic Haters.
Yabu’s buttermilk scratch biscuits with charcoal grilled pork tenderloin. I’s a lot of work, but well worth it. Good with gravy, good with mustard, good straight up, good with everything.

No comment on the geopolitical statement: you nailed the truth. As far the biscuits and tenderloin, add a bowl of buttered cheese grits, some pear preserves and a cup of strong black coffee and I’m good to go.
I hear you, I can get all over some grits, preserves, and good coffee.
To win in the Middle East requires a complete destruction of the culture and a ruthless removal of all that stand in the way.
We’re not willing to do that as a society, and I think it’s best. We can isolate the Middle East, harness our own energy sources, and leave them to a society mired in the 16th century. It’s best and necessary. They’ll never remove the bonds of their antique society until we leave.
Good points all, but I believe Iran needs to be stopped before they go nuclear. We’re living in one hell of a mess, aren’t we?
I do know one thing, all hell is going to break loose in the Middle East.

This.
Our problems overall are massive, but I believe the most urgent is here at home. The status quo is just not sustainable, and when it crashes, things are going to get ugly. Starving people who cannot afford to buy food because of inflation are ugly. So are armed folks who believe their Constitutional rights are being violated.
I wish I could remember who said this, but it is true, about people talking about confiscating firearms: “They would do well to remember American history. The debate started with taxes, the Revolution started when they came to take the guns.”
I pray for the future of our nation, YMMV.
Guns will be a problem no matter which side you support. Hell, I know people who have guns who probably shouldn’t. You know what I mean?
country ham is also good with biscuits
Hell yes it is.
Buttermilk biscuits! With grilled tenderloin! Neither item should ever be typed, written, or spoken without exclamation points!!!!
My mistake, won’t happen again!!!!!
