All of my true friends are competent well educated people. This is by choice, and I would like to think we found each other. Problem solvers. Challengers. Many problems don’t become problems if you ask yourselves “what if?” on occasion. Thinking ahead, so to say.
I’m sick and tired of listening the to the anti-gun movement bitch and complain about something they know nothing about. Some people are so gullible, they believe if enough people believe something is right, it is right. I could go on and on, but these are two stories related to guns.
Story One: Many years ago my good friend, his wife and young daughter, were sitting in their den after dinner one night when two guys kicked in the front door. My friends had no dog, so they had no warning. The bad guys ripped the phone from the wall and told them to give ‘em all the cash and jewelry. One of the bad guys produced a knife and said he wanted the kid and his wife as well. Howard’s nine millimeter was tucked in the crease of his “sitting” chair two feet away. Think about this, two big guys in your home who want to steal your stuff and rape and/ or kidnap your family. Probably kill you, and no way to call for help. Howard grabbed his gun and shot the guy with the knife in the left cheek just below the eye, from about three yards. The round ricocheted off his cheek bone and traveled under the skin and exited his ear. He was down, but not dead. Howard immediately upgraded to a .45 ACP the following day. After the surgeons fixed his face and he did some time in prison, he was released and killed in another home invasion. I heard he got all crossed up with a shotgun that time. What if Howard hadn’t had a gun?
Story Two: Many years ago my good friend, his wife and teenage daughters were driving on I40 from East to West in Tennessee, when they had a rear tire go flat. It was a New Volvo, but shit happens. They pulled over to the shoulder and called AAA. In about fifteen seconds a beat up piece of shit truck full of Mexicans (I said it, so what) pulled in real close behind them. His wife called the police. Three of the Mexicans carrying bats and a crow bar got out of the truck and approached. They were paying close attention to the ladies and speaking Spanish. Not really much of a choice there, so Mark drew his legally permitted weapon, and alternately pointed at the chest of the Mexicans. They ran back to their truck and drove away. Mark and his family were still sitting by the side of the road when AAA and the Police arrived. What if Mark hadn’t had a gun? Mark got his wife and daughters trained up and all have the proper concealed carry documents. They’re quite handy with their guns now. They practice, practice, and practice. Dad put the whole deal on his tab, and they all chose S&W Lady Smiths, .357 caliber. Nine guns.
I don’t even want to think what might have happened had my friends not been armed.
This firearm and ammunition nonsense is getting out of control. Know this, the Universal Background Check is about People Control, not just guns.

Thanks for those true stories. I also carry pepper spray and a large spring loaded knife.
You’re welcome, and as you know, it’s always better to have one and not need it, than need one and not have it.

The 7 ‘p’s’ “Proper Prior Planning Prevents Piss Poor Performance”. Words to live by.
Thanks, words to live by indeed. Never heard put that way before.
I’ve never heard it put quite that way before either, but definitely agree with the words to live by.
J’s best friend was home with his daughter and a man busted through the door. J’s friend’s wife was upstairs, he was in one room, his little girl in the next room- the home invader between him and his 6 year ole daughter. J’s friend shot him dead. He had just came in from traveling, had a weapon strapped (he has a CWP.) If he hadn’t had the gun on him, he is very certain things would have ended differently.
Very fortunate for his family. I’m certain you or I would’ve done the same thing.
