Damn Is All I Can Say

A IAF pilot and his navigator ejected from their F-16 as it touched down at 180 MPH. Neither was injured. Anyone know how high injection seat like that will shoot you? Interesting thing is…the fighter’s front gear was locked, and the damn plane coasted to a stop…minor damage. Must have had a long runway. I wonder how long it takes to coast an F-16 from 190 to zero.

F-16s normally have the ACES II zero/zero ejection seat (0 ft altitude + 0 airspeed) which is good to go safety-wise. At 180mph, it seems like a highly dangerous move, but maybe not. Scary as hell, at least, as in “how much of my ass will the runway remove?’

Incredible machines those jets fighters are. Regardless of age. They all never cease to impress the hell out of me.

Yes they are, and they’re still building new blocks of F-16’s.

Wish I’d chased Jets with the same enthusiasm as Girls when I was a younger man.
