Russia Is Still Our Enemy
Russia was the full time enemy of the United States for the duration of the Cold War, then a supposed ally of the United States for about fifteen years. Now, they’ve resumed the role as an enemy of the United States. The Russians have chosen sides with radical Islam, and are supplying arms, technology and training to IslamoFascist terrorists.
I wonder why the Russians have chosen this path. Is it resentment over their collapse as a world power? Is it for economic reasons…do they need the cash? Is the old communist regime still embedded in Russian politics and secretly dreams of our destruction?
The fact is, Russia paved the way for terrorists to obtain nuclear materials through several avenues and methods. Basically, security at their nuclear facilities after they lost the Cold War was no better than guarding a five and dime. Plants were left unguarded and essentially unsecured which resulted in thefts of some bad bad juju by not only outsiders, but by the fucking Russians themselves. The Russian Mafia and most certainly military and intelligence personnel who wished to capitalize on their country’s economical and political demise had a field day. On the “black market,” a Russian in possession of a block of plutonium and a capable buyer could indeed become a wealthy man overnight.
It has long been established that suitcase style nuclear bombs, uranium and plutonium as well as missiles themselves have been stolen from Russian facilities and sold to the highest bidders worldwide through the black market. Some believe…terrorist regimes, rogue states and terrorists themselves acquired most of these items. Russian scientists have disappeared, not because they’re dead, but instead because they have sold their services, knowledge and technology to the highest bidders. These people are not limited to nuclear technology, but also include experts in biological and chemical weaponry as well. This type of corruption is not limited to Russia. Look at Pakistan. They have had their share of scientists and technicians sell out to terrorists and terrorist regimes worldwide. A follower of Islam will sell their daughter or sister if the price is right.
Russia has openly supported Iran in their pursuit of nuclear technology. They have provided technology for the construction of the nuclear facilities in Iran and they have provided the process technologies for enriching uranium and are currently training Iranians to make these facilities fully operational as soon as possible. Russia has sold the latest and greatest missile defense systems to Iran, and trained the technicians. The United States, and some others, has officially placed Iran on notice for their nuclear activities, yet Russia has completely disregarded the wishes of the U.S. and our allies and continues to supply and assist Tehran in their nuclear endeavors. These are not the actions of an ally or even a fair weather friend. Russia has chosen sides, and it is not the side of the United States.
This issue cannot be ignored much longer as it is only paving the way to disaster. There are many tensions in the region and Israel is the most likely target of Iran in the near future. Turkey is forming an alliance with Syria, who is already aligned with Iran, a significant perpetuator of all radical Islamic terrorist activities. When you throw the Russian whores and their attitude and still available nuclear capabilities into the mix, the potential outcome is deadly. This is an issue that will not stay on the back burner for very long, as it is already the foremost threat to the stability of that region. The problems and potential for irreversible deadly actions is immense and in my opinion, from a threat priority standpoint, far outweigh any immediate threat that North Korea poses to the U.S. Forget about North Korea for a while.
What is happening in Syria, Iran, Turkey and Russia is a much greater threat to the United States and the western world, than anything happening in North Korea or China. The Middle East (Islam) and the alliances forming within will be at the forefront of the next major world conflict.
The United States must stay in Iraq. Someday, everyone will understand why it was critical to have a US presence directly adjacent to this nightmare.
This is some Bad Bad Juju.

I sooo agree with you, we can't let up just because it's not a popular decision.

... we should move the MARDIV from Japan... immediately... let them stay in Iraq for the next 60 years.....

Russia is doing it for two reasons..money and money. And of course there is a third..access to the Persian gulf. However, Russia and Turkey have historically been enemies as have the Turks and the Persians. I really don't expect to see any lasting alliance between Turkey and Iran and doubt that there will be much of an alliance between Syria and Turkey. The Turks are still have illusions of joining the EU and too many alliances in the mideast might hurt those chances.
I do concur that Islam is our number one enemy..but barely..the invasion from south of the border might do us under as a free and vibrant economy before the ragheads do..and it will be with the blessing of the democrats and many of the republicans.
I have no problems with staying in Iraq..but I do have problems with more of the same. I believe if we are gonna stay then we ought to just send in enough troops to take it and secure it..and if it means shooting every sumbitch seen with a gun that is not in an American or ally uniform then so be it..
But the problems will not end until Islam is sent back to the tents where it came from and to do that we will have to eliminate the radical Islamic leaders..wonder how we could give them all AIDS? Maybe infect there sheep and hope..

Russia may be playing both sides of the field here, but that's nothing new.
Hell, it's not even that I disagree with you- but I'd like to see some sources. "Common knowledge" of international events led to the belief that Iraq had WMDs. It's more dangerous than one thinks.
Side note- the "suitcase nuke" would be little more powerful than your average rider truck full of fertilizer. Which do you think is easier to procure? Even simpler, how many nitrogen-laden trucks can one buy for the price of one suitcase nuke? I've read several stories about the Russian Mob selling "suitcase nukes", for an average of thirty million, to extremists. They turned out to be full of jello and spare computer parts.
...and Iran’s new nuclear technology may be Russian, but their original technology- from the 1950's- is all made in the USA. The enemy of my enemy....

Opening Salvos of a greater Middle East War
A war involving the US, Israel, Iran, Syria, Hezbollah and Al Qaeda…..

Raoul,
A fertilizer bomb doesn't release any radition.
The rider truck full of fertilizer that exploded in front of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma in 1995, for example, had a yield of 0.002 kiloton.
A typical suitcase nuclear device has a yeild of 1 kiloton.

If you throw France into the mix, you have enough votes in the UN to stop any resolution from being passed that might help the Democrats (and a lot of Republicans) decide it was OK to stop Iran from bombing the hell out of Israel and probably the U.S. too.

10-20 Tons, Yabu. You'd need 100 of them for a kiloton.

Radiation?
"People in the immediate vicinity of a suitcase nuke or suitcase bomb detonation would likely die from the force of the conventional explosion itself. Some survivors of the blast might die of radiation poisoning in the weeks afterward. Those farther away from the explosion might suffer radiation sickness in the days and weeks afterward, but recover. Over time, risks of cancer in the affected area would rise, but perhaps only slightly."
Bang for buck, suitcase nukes are just not financially smart. One Jihadist with an SKS and two fifty round drums might do more damage.
Now, what confuses me is that the "backpack" bomb, while half as small, somehow yields "3-5" kilotons. That'd be a pretty good bomb, but something doesn't make sense here. I'm no nuclear scientist; I'm just going with what the internets give me.

After they suck all they can from Russia, the ragheads will turn on them -- can we all chant Chechnya?
