Coup d’état

The strange phone call:

I've been asked for my participation, support, and planning in the execution of a coup d’état Take that however you want. Although I'm flattered this band / mob would want / need my participation...I'll probably sit this one out. I do appreciate the fact they understand they need someone to drive and control / think through current and future events...I really do, but, sometimes, in matters like this...it is better to watch from a distance, but sometimes it's not.

It's a toss.

Do I provide advice, or not? Do I get in the game, or not?

Very interesting...

Bottom Line: I would love to see them succeed, but without guidance...they will probably drop the ball.

Once you begin down a path like this...there is no turning back...

Anyone want to comment on this situation?

Hmmmm...the last time I was in a communist-controlled island nation I would've jumped at the chance. As it was, I got back three days before they shot down "insurgent" Piper Cub aircraft.

But I would have never advised what happened in say, Haiti. Bad nutrition and isolation makes for a child-like and stunted populace. Give them freedom and they resort to gang-like anarchy.

But you know all this.

I hate when coup d'etats interrupt my Sunday, don't you?

Ah, well, risk assessment, baby...do the benefits outweigh the risks?

When Charles Taylor overthrew Samuel Doe in Liberia in 1990, Taylor's henchman Prince Johnson cut off and ate Doe's penis.

Were you planning anything along those lines?
