Closer Than You Think

Whatever, can't do Helen this year, but I am going hang with Eric the Blade for about three days. He assures me we'll have enough wood this time around so I don't have to burn his flower pots.
Fire starts THU 23 evening, and will burn until SUN 26 morning. It will be a good time.
I'm bringing the rockets.

For The Ladies
Yabu is a revolver person...for many reasons. No need to go into that now., but this is a nice ride for your woman.
A LadySmith is the Catdaddy for your woman.
Mine has one, and I feel good about that.
Just sayin"

My Dog Stretch
First, regarding my previous post, ...I thank everyone who sent Stretch best wishes...
My best friend Stretch went from bad to worse the day before yesterday. He can't walk...can't do his business...bad situation all the way around.
Anyway, Stretch underwent emergency neurosurgery on his spinal column yesterday in a town about 100 miles away.
That is where the best doctor in the state is. At least I'm told. I went through everything with him...and I decided to let him slice him about 4 -5 inches right down the middle of his back. He knew...if he fucked up...I would slice his dick off. I kid you not...he knew I was serious.
He made it through surgery fine, and is still there...will be for several days...I just heard this morning, he is doing fine. My woman just left him, and he is asking for Yabu. Smart Doggie!!! Yabu does not let anyone down...Most people would just put him down, but my DVM said she would not allow me to do that...as did my woman. I just don't want him to suffer. My DVM has always owned a Dachshund...knows them well. Heck, she has pictures of Stretch on the wall of her practice. She told me that she would take him before I put him down. Medical technology has improved so much in the last years, that I felt comfortable with her recommendation and my decision. Time will tell.
Bottom line...I will do whatever I can. It was really really expensive...as with most things, it's all about money.
That is fucked up!
Sad but true.
My dog Stretch will be home soon.
In the meantime...I'm gonna shoot every fucking squirrel and rabbit I see...eliminate the temptation, if you know what I mean.
Again folks...thanks...

Decisions
My best friend Stretch has hurt himself really bad, and I don't know how.
He is a jumper, and now his back legs don't work very well. Basically...he's fucked up pretty good. No pain...he just can't walk very well. I am sad.
My woman is in worse shape than me, if that is possible. The DVM's we use are the best, and they absolutely love him; if I have to board him when I travel...more often than not, one of them will take him home for the night. He has got it made. He is one with the ladies...for certain. Hell, they even have a picture of him on the wall in their practice.
During his examination / procedure yesterday, I point blank told them I would shoot him before I would let him suffer. This did not go over very well. Not well at all.
Let me back up a tad: They said I need to keep him in a cage for 6 weeks...not gonna happen...and now they know that...so we met in the middle.
I, fortunately, put bread on the table by working virtual...which means I can keep an eye on things...so to say. I can and will limit his rambunctious behavior...if that is possible...so he will become my lap dog for the next six weeks. I will do whatever is necessary for him. Whatever that might be. And then we'll see. I will not let him suffer.
He has a Inter Vertebral Disk problem (pinched nerve, in this case) that occurs when the disks along the spinal column, which act like shock absorbers, become inflamed or are traumatized. It puts pressure on the nerves exiting the spinal cord, and in his case...his back legs aren't working very well...but he thinks everything is fine. He is in no pain.
The Vet's believe he will be fine. They tell me this is not uncommon with Dachshunds. I'm not sure I believe them
This is going to be more difficult than I thought. Keeping this little rascal confined will require some engineering. He loves his couch in the living room...so I'm gonna fence it in...make it so he can't jump / fly off it. It is, after all, his space.
Think good thoughts about my boy Stretch.
This is some BadBad Juju.

One Who Yawns
Labor Day sought to create "a day off for the working citizens".
That is and was a good thing.
Reminds me of Geronimo, who was a Bedonkohe Apache. He was wise beyond all that. He, and what was left of his people were screwed by us..the US.
He said:
As to the future state, the teachings of our tribe were not specific, that is, we had no definite idea of our relations and surroundings in after life. We believed that there is a life after this one, but no one ever told me as to what part of man lived after death...We held that the discharge of one's duty would make his future life more pleasant, but whether that future life was worse than this life or better, we did not know, and no one was able to tell us. We hoped that in the future life family and tribal relations would be resumed. In a way we believed this, but we did not know it."
Anyway, in 1918, his bones were stolen...not that he needed them anymore, but that is some Bad Bad Juju.
