They are beautiful birds. I was really amazed that I had one go after Jack when he was a pup. Especially in the city. It’s sheer luck that I stepped out just as it was diving. I would have been so completely mortified if I would have witnessed that.

When I was living in New Orleans, an acquaintance worked for the recycling arm of Browning Ferris Industries. They serviced Justin’s house out on Bayou Lacombe, the Northshore of Lake Ponchartrain.

He had married some young belle and moved into this big ass house which was actually inside a Wildlife Refuge and originally built by the Head Cheese from the State Parks and Rec Department in the 1930s, supposedly with tax money and state labor. It was Louisiana after all…. Killer house right on the bayou.

Anyway, according to Joe, the amount of empty wine bottles old Justin produced on a weekly basis was absolutely staggering. Fifty gallon rollaway garbage can full every week. The old coot lived to almost 90 I guess.

I hate hate hate the whole fall back spring forward thing. It’s stupid!! In the spring it’s the equivalent of cutting off your own head and standing on it to get taller!! Yeesh…
